Load heavier items in smaller boxes. Overloaded large boxes are most likely designed to be carried by two movers, one box at a time. These boxes have more chances to crash because of their own weight, and it is almost impossible to put them in a truck. All this will slow down the whole process of moving. Fill each box to the top and, if necessary, use a lot of wrapping paper to make sure that there is no free space.
Small boxes (1.5 cubic feet) are designed to store books! Yes, the smallest boxes should be used for the heaviest items: books, files, CDs, DVDs, recording albums, canned food, tools, equipment, etc. Pack them tightly, since these boxes are often loaded on the bottom of the truck.
Medium boxes (3.0 cubic feet) are used for clothing, small electronics, various items from drawers and kitchen cabinets, small frames for paintings, shoes and many other medium weight items.
Large boxes (4.5 cubic feet) are great for bulky items that do not have a lot of weight. This can be bedding, large pans, frying pans, lampshades, etc.
The kitchen is often the least favorite room for the person who carries out the packaging, because it often has the smallest and most delicate things. And if you have a lot of glass or fine porcelain, you will be especially careful to follow these packing tips when moving. For porcelain, we always suggest using a plastic or cardboard box. The box itself is intended to protect the dishes with proper packaging.
First place crumpled white paper on the bottom as a cushion. Then wrap each fragile object in white paper and place them in the box vertically. Place one more crumpled piece of white paper between each dish so that they do not rub each other. Never place objects on top of each other if there are no pads between them. Put the glasses at the top of the box, because they are the most fragile. Leave approximately 4–5 inches of space at the top to fill with crumpled white paper for cushioning. Remember that it is better to use small size boxes for packing plates or heavy glasses.
Fold clothes or bedding neatly and pack them in medium-sized boxes. And here is a small commercial secret that works wonders: lay clothes with sheets of paper so that it does not crumple and has a fresh smell. If possible, use a dress wardrobe for suits that you would prefer to leave on the hangers.
Our technique for packaging lamps includes the packaging of the base and shade in two separate boxes. If you pack a few lamps, try to avoid the temptation to pack lamps of different colors. into one box. Perhaps the metal of one shade may damage the other.
It’s easy to overload a box of books and this will complicate the job for the movers. That’s why you should always use a small but sturdy box. Put the books on the cover to avoid bending the covers or pages, and remember to lay the books all the way to the top of the box to avoid its deformation. Bear in mind that small boxes work best.
If you still have the original packaging for any of your electronics, this is the best way to transport them. If not, better use plastic boxes or special cardboard boxes. Do not forget to place a lot of white paper (up to 5 inches) at the bottom of the box. DVD and CD players should be packed last, because they are the most important. Leave about 5 inches of space for the white paper at the top of the box.
When packaging computers, it is always better to use the original packaging. If this is not possible, better use a plastic box. Be sure to back up your data before moving, because computers are particularly sensitive to transport damage (it’s better to have a copy of the information than to restore it). Pack the monitor in its box and make sure it is snapped on all sides. Cables and cords can be supplied in any of the computer boxes. Just separate them with a piece of cardboard. Pack the printers in the same way (original boxes or plastic box) after draining the remaining ink to avoid possible contamination.
Take care to pack your art and mirrors well and pay special attention to valuable items. If possible, pack framed paintings or paintings in a special box for paintings. And do not forget to lay the bottom of each box with white paper. All that is of exceptional value, must be packed by professional movers (for example, us) or an art gallery.
Wrap any fragile collectible items in a bubble wrap and place them in a plastic or cardboard box with a generous cushion of packing paper on the bottom. Do not forget to close them and fill this space with packing paper. Mark the box as fragile so that your movers know to be extra careful.
Small household appliances. Place the small fixtures in their original boxes, and then in a large box. This may seem superfluous, but small boxes for appliances can not withstand the weight of other objects while driving. You can pack as many boxes for devices as you can fit in a large box, but be sure that it is not too heavy to carry.
Free the refrigerator from food. Remove the shelves of the refrigerator and package them separately. If you leave them in the refrigerator, they can become damaged or may drop out during movement.
Do not pack them. If you must bring liquids with you, carry them separately. Otherwise, they can leak and damage your other items, even if they are packed in a separate box.
Pack the plasma TV in its original box, because it will contain gases that will leak when moved. If you have an LCD TV or other TV, we can pack it for you during the move.
Take especially valuable items with you during the transfer, such as money, documents, ornaments, etc., so that they are not lost. Although it is unlikely that something will be lost. But we recommend that you follow these shipping guidelines just in case and for your own peace of mind.
It is unlikely that something will be lost or broken, but it would be useful to have a list of your items and their cost for insurance compensation. Facemoove Company will provide a complete inventory checklist for all items shipped with us for long distance transportation, or placed in our storerooms. Of course, you will need to add value for insurance purposes, if you so desire.
Such things as clothing, bedding and utensils will be packed and moved easier if they are cleaned and organized. Eliminating the confusion around your home and ensuring that your movers have room for packaging will help ensure a quick, smooth and efficient process. All tags. Clearly mark all your containers and items that you want to place there, so that your packers will know how the boxes are labeled and where to put them when you arrive at your new home. Make sure that all things are in the right place before the movers arrive, in which case you do not have to worry about things being packed in the wrong boxes.
Communication is the key issue in every relocation. If you have valuable or sentiment-related items that need extra care, be sure to tell your movers. Inform the movers of your wishes, and also be available for questions from the movers on the details of the packaging of your things. Be sure to inspect all the pieces as soon as the packaging is completed, to make sure that everything is done for your satisfaction before the truck is loaded.
Moving to another location is a great opportunity to get rid of everything that is superfluous! Do not move things that you no longer need. Sacrifice, sell or just throw these items away, and do not waste time, energy, and money on moving them. If you have any hazardous materials or products, your movers will not be able to pack and transport them, so it’s best to use them or get rid of them before you move.
